Professional Profile
Dr David Moorhouse is a general neurologist with a sub-specialty interest in peripheral neurophysiology/pathology. Dr Moorhouse became interested in medicinal cannabis over the last number of years through working with neurology patients, many whom of which has become interested in consuming CBD and medicinal cannabis products to help manage symptoms of Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis.
Background
Dr David Moorhouse graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin in 1987 with an honour’s degree, following which he worked in medicine for three years obtaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland MRCPI. Dr Moorhouse developed an interest in neurology during his medical training and decided to do one-year residency in neuropathology for one year. In 1991 he emigrated to San Diego to do two years research in the peripheral nerve laboratory at University of California San Diego UCSD; studying the pathology of nerve injury. Following this, he entered a three-year neurology residency program at UCSD, becoming board certified in neurology by the American Academy of Neurology ABPN on completion of residency/examinations. This was followed by a one-year fellowship in electromyography and becoming board certified in electromyography ABEM. In 1998, he returned to Ireland and has worked in an extremely busy solo private neurology practice since. In 2019, Dr Moorhouse joined Cannaray’s Scientific Advisory Board, where he has rapidly expanded his knowledge and interest of medicinal cannabis as a treatment for a wide range of different neurological diseases.
