But if you want the full lowdown on decoding your dosage, we’ve got all the tips you need right here, courtesy of our Chief Science Officer, Gregor Zorn. Below, he reveals how to take your CBD oil, plus four steps that will help you decide on your perfect number of drops...
First, how do I take CBD oil drops?
It’s easy. All you have to do is squeeze your CBD oil underneath your tongue, hold it there for 90 seconds while it absorbs, then swallow whatever is left. To make it extra simple, we’ve added glass measuring pipettes to the lids of our Bright Days CBD Oil and Night CBD Oil Drops.
1. Find Your Formula
“For a CBD first-timer, your goal should be to find the right dosage that works uniquely for you,” says Gregor. “It’s different for everyone and because CBD is a food supplement and not a medication, it doesn’t necessarily change by body weight - although this can be a factor.
That said, Gregor recommends “you start low and go slow” with a small dosage. This can be anywhere from 25mg upwards, around 0.5ml of CBD oil, although we tend to find that a dosage around 50mg upwards is what our customers find optimal.
That’s why you'll find the perfect entry-level amount in the CBD Oil Discovery Kit. A great kit for beginners containing 10ml of our Bright Days CBD Oil Drops and Night Time CBD Oil Drops. Start with 0.5 – 1ml dropper of oil (measured with the glass pipette), equivalent to 25mg – 50mg CBD.
2. Decode Your Drops
Keeping with the ‘start low and go slow’ theme, Gregor suggests you take one dropper of oil at a time. However, the number of these single doses per day can vary based on how you're integrating CBD in your daily routine.
3. Observing the Effects
If you're new to CBD, Gregor recommends that you “stay on your beginners’ dose for two to three days to monitor your experience before increasing your dose up to a maximum of 70mg CBD per day." You can even track the experience with our seven-day CBD diary.
Gregor adds: “Sometimes the CBD has to accumulate in the body via the fat cells before you feel any difference. It doesn’t always absorb instantly – you have to give it time.
“If after three days you feel that you might need more CBD, try increasing the amount you take. For example, if you’re taking one 25mg dropper once per day, try a 25mg dropper twice per day.”
Gregor says that, each time you increase, you should wait at least three days before tweaking your dosage again. “This is a good way of discovering how your body interacts with CBD oil.”
4. Switching Your Formula
Instead of continually increasing your number of drops (and burning through your bottle of oil), you may reach a point where you’re ready to transition to a more concentrated formula.
For example, if you’re taking two 25mg droppers before bed to reach a 50mg dosage, you’re using up one millilitre of your 500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops at once. However, if you switch to the 1500mg CBD Oil Drops, you get 50mg in a single squeeze of the pipette, meaning you only need to take one full dropper.
Getting the most mileage out of your CBD oil may mean changing the formula to dial down the drops required. Here’s the dosage you get from one dropper of each CBD Oil Drops bottle…
500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops = 25mg CBD per 0.5ml
600mg Night Time CBD Oil Drops = 30mg CBD per 0.5ml
1500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops = 50mg CBD per 1ml
1800mg Night Time CBD Oil Drops = 60mg CBD per 1ml
So, let’s recap...
• Start with two 0.5ml droppers or one 1ml dropper of CBD Oil Drops per day.
• Take that dosage daily, depending on your desired outcome.
• Keep consistent with your ‘start low and go slow’ dosage for three days to see how you feel
• Want to increase your dosage? Dial it up, then trial the new level for (again) 3 days - just remember to stay within the 70mg CBD per day guidance.
