“How many drops of CBD oil should I take?” It’s one of the most common questions we’re asked at Cannaray. And, because there’s no one-size-fits-all dosage, it’s easy to see why CBD beginners are unsure. So how can you decode the right number of CBD oil drops for you?
Here, our Chief Science Officer, Gregor Zorn, reveals four steps to deciding on your number of drops...
1. Find Your Formula
“For a CBD first-timer, your goal should be to find the right dosage that works uniquely for you,” says Gregor. “It’s different for everyone and, unlike medications, it doesn’t necessarily change by body weight - although this can be a factor.
That said, Gregor recommends “you start low and go slow” with a small dosage. This can be anywhere from 25mg upwards, around 0.5ml of oil, although we tend to find that a dosage around 50mg upwards is what our customers find optimal.
That’s why the perfect entry-level oil would be the Discovery Kit. A great kit for beginners containing 10ml of our Bright Days CBD Oil Drops and Night Time CBD Oil Drops. Start with 0.5 – 1ml dropper of oil (measured with the glass pipette), equivalent to 25mg – 50mg CBD.
2. Decode Your Drops
Keeping with the ‘start low and go slow’ theme, Gregor suggests you take one dropper of oil at a time. However, the number of these single doses per day can vary based on your desired outcome.
“If you’re using CBD daily as a holistic supplement for a particular concern, and want to sustain an effect, you would need to take one drop several times per day. Usually this would be two to three times, such as morning and evening, or morning afternoon and night,” he explains.
“However, if you’re taking it before you wind down at night, you would only take it once per day, around an hour before you go to bed. Your initial number of drops depends on the results you hope to achieve.”
3. Observing the Effects
“What you’re trying to do is balance your system by adding just the right amount of external things - often combined with other wellness activities - to make your body feel whole again,” Gregor says. “Stay on your beginners’ dose for two to three days to see how the CBD oil affects you." You can even track the effects with our seven-day CBD diary.
Gregor adds: “Sometimes the CBD has to accumulate in the body via the fat cells before you see any difference. It doesn’t always absorb instantly – you have to give it time.
“If you’re not noticing any effects after three days, try doubling the dose. For example, if you’re taking one 10mg dropper three times per day, increase to two 10mg droppers three times per day.”
Gregor says that, each time you increase, you should wait at least three days before doubling your dosage again. “This is a good way of discovering how your body reacts to CBD oil.”
4. Switching Your Formula
Instead of continually increasing your number of drops (and burning through your bottle of oil), you may reach a point where you’re ready to transition to a more concentrated formula.
For example, if you’re taking two 25mg droppers before bed to reach a 50mg dosage, you’re using up one millilitre of your 500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops at once. However, if you switch to the 1500mg CBD Oil Drops, you get 50mg in a single squeeze of the pipette, meaning you only need to take one full dropper.
Getting the most mileage out of your CBD oil may mean changing the formula to dial down the drops required. Here’s the dosage you get from one dropper of each CBD Oil Drops bottle…
500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops = 25mg per 0.5ml dropper of oil
600mg Night Time CBD Oil Drops = 30mg per 0.5ml dropper of oil
1500mg Bright Days CBD Oil Drops = 50mg per 1ml dropper of oil
1800mg Night Time CBD Oil Drops = 60mg per 1ml dropper of oil
So, let’s recap...
• Start with two 0.5ml droppers or one 1ml dropper of CBD Oil Drops per day.
• Take that dosage once per day, depending on your desired outcome.
• Keep consistent with your ‘start low and go slow’ dosage for three days to see how it affects you.
• Want to increase your dosage? Trial it again for three days.
