New to CBD? No problem. If you’re thinking about joining the revolution, here’s everything you need to know before you get started. Soon you’ll be a pro.
CBD is Short for ‘Cannabidiol’
But, let’s be honest: CBD is quicker to say. It’s the name of a compound that’s extracted from hemp plants, and it’s thought to boast a host of wellness benefits. How, exactly? Experts believe it may interact with your body in a number of ways, but the most talked about is its relationship with your built-in endocannabinoid system. This clever system’s number one goal is to maintain balance within your body, and cannabinoids (such as CBD) are thought to help it do just that.

How Much CBD Should You Take?
This is one of the first questions many people ask about CBD. And the answer? It’s up to you. The dosage that works is unique to everyone; you just have to listen to your body. However, to give you some guidance, here are the starter dosages we recommend for each of our blends. ‘Start low and go slow’ is the mantra here, but you can adjust as you go along.
CBD Oil Drops: Whether you’re taking the Bright Days or Night Time tincture, we recommend starting with a half dropper (0.5ml) or full dropper (1ml) per day, then levelling up as and when you feel like it. For Bright Days Oil Drops, both the 500mg and 1500mg contain 50mg CBD per 1ml dropper. For Night Time Oil drops, the 600mg and 1800mg contain 60mg CBD per 1ml dropper.
CBD Capsules: Taking one or two CBD Capsules daily is ideal for beginners. We suggest starting with the Discovery jar, which holds 20 capsules, each containing 10mg of CBD. Try one in the AM and one in the PM until you reach the bottom of the pot. You could then level up to the full-sized jar of 40 15mg capsules.
CBD Gummies: The CBD Gummies aren’t just fun and delicious; they’re also power-packed with a 25mg dose of cannabidiol. That’s why we recommend starting with just one (juicy, fruity, orange-flavoured) gummy per day at first. If you want to boost the effects, you can add a second to your daily ritual.
Try your beginner dosage for one week, and make sure you track the effects in our 7-Day CBD Diary. You might find the starter dose is just right, meaning you can stick with it. If you do decide to increase the amount of CBD you’re taking, trial the new level for three days before deciding whether to dial it up again.

When Should You Take CBD?
AM or PM? That’s the question when it comes to timing your CBD dosage. And, as with all things CBD, you just need to find what works for you and your body. If you tend to be a little bit forgetful with your supplements, team your daily dosage with another routine, like your morning coffee or brushing your teeth before bed. This makes it easy to remember.
You might find the day is best if you’re looking for calm amidst the chaos. The Cannaray team has been known to take a dropper of the CBD Oil Drops between morning Zoom calls. Or, like our ambassador, Claudia Winkleman, you might prefer to take CBD at night. It all depends what you’re taking it for, and what works with your day-to-day routine.
